There are reports that Apple is going to launch its next-generation iMacs in Q1 of 2009 that will be powered by the same NVIDIA MCP79 chips current Mac Books are powered by today. There are also reports that indicate Apple might be readying the new PCs with quad-core Intel chips (clock speeds of up to 2.8GHz) instead of the NVIDIA platform. Reports from Chinese newspapers, including from Economic Daily News, confirm the new Chinese iMacs will start shipping soon and will be available in Apple stores by the end of January 2009 in North America.
