OneSeason is a new online sports fantasy community that essentially turns athletes into commodities where users can trade with real money. OneSeason has announced it has raised $3.5 million in a new VC fund led by Charles River Ventures. CRV partner George Zachary has joined the board, and Hot or Not founder James Hong and 49er Ronnie Lott hold positions on the Advisory Board. I am a bit skeptical here; I don’t think people will begin to trade their real dollars until the company can prove it is a legitimate service with a real market. The price (stock price - if you will) of an athlete simply increases depending on demand. The company has recorded more than one million trades since its October 2008 launch. Via
