Disqus and IntenseDebate Add Good New Features

IntenseDebate and Disqus are the main two third party commenting systems for Wordpress blogs that add a whole lot more features effortlessly on your part.

Today, IntenseDebate (owned by Automattic, the same company behind Wordpress), has just rolled out new features. Commentators can now easily create their own poll, and embed their own YouTube videos, add smiles, among other features.

One of the main advantages Disqus (used on this blog) has is the ability for users to login with Facebook Connect where the comments also appear in the commentators newsfeed, which has the capacity to go viral.

I recently contacted Intense Debate and they told me they have no current intention of adopting Facebook Connect.

Another big advantage Disqus has is they’ve just announced a partnership with Ubervu, which will bring comments made on other sites such as Digg back to your own blog, further encouraging conversations on your own blog. Mashable has an exclusive preview of this new feature, but will be available to everyone fairly soon. Disqus just told me that they will release it to the general public soon.

  • As far as I understand, Disqus and Intense Debate do the same thing. ... but Disqus seem to be a bit more cutting-edge, developing new features etc. ...
  • Disqus had been really famous for many bloggers, for with disqus they can easily monitor their comment.
  • thats really a cool stuff been posted.. DISQUS rocks.. great experience with it... hope it beats the competitors.. thanks for your info!!!!!!!
  • Disqus is the best commenting system because it offers flexibility for users that want to surf more than 2-3 blogs. Creating one user that can access all the blogs was a brilliant idea and it helped the Disqus community grow.
  • IntenseDebate is good thing
  • thanks a lot for the post! I think it's amazing system! That's why I use it!
  • I initially installed Intense Debate but something about it was leaving me discontented.
It's a hard decision to make between the two.
The clincher for me came when I realized I couldn't edit comments, or replies that I had already submitted - not without some messing about anyway. That was a show stopper.
Having moved to Disqus I can say I'm very satisfied - nothing's perfect, but this is pretty good.

May be they have no current intention of adopting Facebook Connect... But in future they should adopt it to make their business more profitable.. Disqus is always take care about their users and so they are in peak position among comment systems..

i am really liking disqus. especially the way it integrates twitter. ;)
  • it is great, and now they've fixed the problems with the Reactions feature. They just need to do what IntenseDebate is doing and allow developers to make plugins like a YouTube video embed plugin or something
  • I'll definitely go for Disqus any day. With disqus I can manage and control all my threads.
  • I think Disqus is a lot better, I just want them to roll out that new social media comments feature :)
  • Pete
yeah and disqus is gonna bring comments from social sites back to the original source which will be great - i hope they add some of the new features that intense debate has added like the poll (not as much) and the ability to embedd youtube videos.
  • Disqus VS. Intense Debate

    Winner: Disqus!
  • i agree too, no doubts in my mind at all. I Don't think there is any other commenting plug in as good as disqus!
