TweetDeck has just announced it is adding support for Facebook Connect. TweekDeck is a desktop client side application that lets you Tweet and view messages directly from your desktop instantly.

You will now have the option of sending messages you create from TweetDeck to your Facebook status. Additionally, you will be able to login to Facebook chat from TweetDeck to chat with friends that are online indicated with a green status indicator dot. There are already a number of IM applications that let you use Facebook chat simultaneously with other IM platforms such as Digsby (Windows) and Adium (Mac).

Currently, TweetDeck accounts for about 16% of all tweets, followed by twhirl with 6.85% market share. 32% of all tweets are generated from Twitter itself.

We can likely expect other Twitter client side applications will also adopt Facebook Connect, almost integrating the service with Facebook.

Crowborough, UK-based TweetDeck has raised $450,000 to date in funding since its June 2008 launch.

In related news, Facebook Connect also now supports iPhone apps.

Geotagging is also expected to be integrated with Facebook status updates fairly soon, and will also likely be supported by other third party mobile Twitter applications. You can already share your location with Google Latitude (with even live tracking) but you cannot yet post your location to Twitter or Facebook.

In more related news, as part of Facebook’s plan to be more open, Facebook has just introduced new privacy features allowing you to completely open your profile to everyone to view, no matter which network they belong to. You can also restrict who see’s and does what as well. You will also notice a new notification alerting you if the change that reads:

Now there is an “Everyone” option for sharing.
IF you choose, ou can now open your profile and share information with everyone on Facebook for broader distribution and better sharing. None of your settings have changed with this new option.
