Microsoft has just announced the availability of its first official Windows Mobile Facebook app.
The standard Facebook mobile for phones is fairly basic that really only includes access to status updates, profiles and wall posts. Now, that’s changed for Windows Mobile users who can now have a feature rich Facebook experience on their mobile.
Standard features in the new app include:
* Send messages to any of the people in your Friends list.
* Take pictures and videos on your phone, then upload them right to Facebook.
* Send messages or call people in your Friends list.
* Manage your profile and post anytime, anywhere.
* Profile - View your profile, update status, write on wall, add photos and videos, and send messages
* News feeds - Compose, view, reply and delete items
* Status updates - View, update and change picture
* Photos and videos - Upload and view pictures, people tag, geo tag, auto upload to Facebook, read photo details, and make comments. The application will be the only version on the market offering the ability to upload video right from the phone.
* Wall - Post and delete items
* Friends profile - Invite, comment on status, view full profile, and email, SMS or call from profile
* Email - View, send and reply
* Notifications - View, poke and accept notifications
* Requests - Confirm friend requests and invites
Additionally, the Windows Mobile Facebook app includes an exclusive feature, which is the ability to upload video to Facebook directly from your handset. It is the only mobile Facebook app that can do this for now, but the feature is rumored to be coming to BlackBerry as well.
The app is intuitively designed into five tabs. Tab 1 includes your news feed, Tab 2 includes profile content, Tab 3 includes Facebook friends, Tab 4 is for messaging, and Tab 5 is your phonebook.
The winmo version also has Facebook contact integration with your phone allowing you to easily text and call your friends.
Windows Mobile users will now also be able to share Facebook content across all Windows Live services exclusively.
With Facebook Open stream, Microsoft is also able to utilize the Facebook feed with Live spaces. New apps from Microsoft are being developed via the new Facebook API that should be available soon, such as the apps shown in the video below.
