There are yet more rumors today of a new iPhone launch on July 17, 2009, this time courtesy of the site AppAdvice. They are citing a person familiar with the matter who works in Apple’s hardware development team who says the new iPhone will drop Fri July 17.
Given Apple likely wants to push out the new iPhone 3.0 OS, and as the company keeps with traditional launch dates, it is very likely this could be it. The iPhone 3G lastly launched on July 11, 2008, while the first iPhone launched June 29, 2007.
The price of the new iPhone is expected to stay the same as the iPhone 3G.
Today, AT&T chief executive Ralph de la Vega today confirmed AT&T is considering discounting the existing iPhone cost structure to help make the iPhone more appealing to the more price sensitive demographic. The current iPhone rate plan that includes unlimited web surfing and voice is set at $70 per month, with other features costing extra.
It is believed AT&T will reduce that price by $10 to $60. De la Vega today said it would be very costly for AT&T to cut its price, but the company is taking a price cut into consideration. He also confirmed the iPhone will not be sold without a data plan.
Confirmed next gen iPhone features:
3.2MP camera with video recording

All the iPhone 3.0 OS features

Other likely features:
- FM Transmitter
- Significantly faster CPU, rumors say up to 600MHz
- GPS turn-by-turn direction
- Longer battery life
- 32GB storage
