Google has announced a new partnership with the German carmaker, Audi, which will see a very major improvement to the GPS navigation system in the latest Audi A8 luxury sedan.
Many people complain that stock GPS navigation systems are not very intuitive or advanced compared to newer standalone models. For example, the BMW M5, as amazing as it is, you can’t even turn off the directional voice prompts.
Thanks to Google, the Audi A8 will get a GPS system powered by Google Earth and Maps. Google Earth will include all the regular features you would find on the PC version, including layers (which provide additional information on the map such as information from Wikipedia on select landmarks), 3D satellite images and panoramic shots. Additionally, users can conduct local search with Google Maps.
One of the greatest features is the fact that you can send address destination information from your PC to the automobile, so you can painlessly start driving with directions ready to go without any input into the car system.
