Telus says it will sell tablets, the iPad as well?

apple-ipadCanada’s third-largest mobile telecom today confirmed the company will further diversify its product line by offering tablet computers.

The confirmation came from David Fuller, the VP of product marketing today.

The comments raise speculation as to whether Telus will offer the Apple iPad. The iPad is slated for an April 3rd U.S. launch, with the device being available in Canada by the end of the same month, according to Apple.

Mr. Fuller confirmed the iPad is in fact compatible on the new Telus network, but did not further elaborate.

We can confirm Microsoft Corporation is working on its own iPad competitor, dubbed Microsoft Courier, but the company has yet to officially acknowledge it is working on such a device. Judging from recent leaks, the device seems more advanced and intuitive than the iPad, but the iPad still has a major competitive advantage, the app store. Microsoft Courier is reportedly to launch by the end of this year.

Telus and BCE last year made significant improvements to their mobile networks to support the world-wide GSM standard at a cost of up to $1-billion.

The network upgrades allowed both Telus and Bell to offer the Apple iPhone, essentially breaking the GSM monopoly that was held by Rogers Communications. Despite this, there is still little competition and the iPhone remains aggressively priced on three-year terms, compared to two-year standard terms in the U.S.

The Canadian telecom landscape is an oligopoly that is controlled by a few firms. However, today, it is poised to slowly change given recent legislation that made way for new firms to launch and operate in Canada, such as the discount telecom Wind Mobile.

The ipad looks good and is becoming well known by students at school. Would be good as a teacher being able to use the technology in classroom lessons with a range of apts for different subjects. We will see in the future.

Colon cancer is one of the leading causes of death. Irrespective of family history, everyone is exposed to the risk. About 90% of colon cancer cases begin from non-cancerous tumors, polyps, which could form in the large bowel. Screening with a colonoscopy will painlessly remove any polyps hence almost entirely reducing your risk of developing the horrible disease. The good news is that about 90% of colon cancer cases are preventable through a simple (yes, simple) colonoscopy.
