Google Now Tracks Your Behavior, Interests to Deliver Ads

googlelogo Google Now Tracks Your Behavior, Interests to Deliver AdsIn an effort by Google to deliver more targeted advertising, Google is testing a new program that tracks your behavior on the Internet by tracking what type of sites you visit. For example, if you continuously visit financial sites, chances are, you like finance. Google will then show financial ads to you on various websites you visit that run Google AdSense. You can also actually tell Google your interests in the Ad Preferences Manager.

I think this type of targeting system is fairly overdue. Now that Google better understands your interests and displays advertising that is more appealing to you, there is now a higher chance you will actually click the ad. Via

New Report Says Click Fraud Up

A new report published by ClickForensics indicates click fraud is on the rise. The report claims 16.3% of click fraud was recorded in Q1 2008, the highest ever recorded by the company. The company also says that 30% of flick fraud is committed by online bots. Now, I’m sure the numbers will be different depending on how the research is obtained, the sample size and so on, but it is worth pointing out that click fraud is a problem that needs to be addressed. Companies are loosing money needlessly by using Google AdWords and other advertising networks including Yahoo Publishers sometimes at the hands of competitors who artificially increase competitors costs. Interesting figures, nevertheless. Via
