Microsoft today has unveiled significant plans to extend its entertainment offerings on the Xbox 360 to new heights. The announcements were made by Microsoft UK Head Neil Thompson in London. The big announcement is Microsoft has reached an agreement with NBC Universal International Television Distribution to bring films produced by Universal Pictures to Xbox Live. People will be able to easily rent and watch the latest movie titles in high definition on the Xbox. Read the full story

Despite the downturn in the economy, NBC says it is not having any difficulties selling ads for the Super Bowl, which will take place on Feb 1 in Tampa Florida. There are 67 advertising spots available, a 30-second spot will set back advertisers $3 million this time around, probably reaching more than 97.5 million viewers. FedEx and GM have both opted out of advertising this year likely because of the current economic conditions. Returning advertisers include Hyundai, E*Trade, Coca Cola, GoDaddy, among others.
