Apple is expected to unveil its very highly anticipated tablet computer at a press event believed to be either on Jan 26 or Jan 27.
It is rumored that Apple will unveil the device to the world at that press event, and is expected to launch the product by the end of Q1 2010.
New reports that have emerged now suggest the launch date will be sometime in Q2.
Asian suppliers that are familiar with the product, such as AVY Precesiion Tech (who is providing the structural casing parts of the device) say they plan to start production of the parts in February to meet a second quarter launch time-line.
No one really knows exactly what this device will be all about, including what OS it will be powered by. There is speculation that it would support apps found on the iPhone via the app store, and now, there are reports that Apple is working on a touch-screen version of iWork.
As far as the January 27 press event that will take place in San Francisco, Apple could use the event to showcase the latest iPhone operating system version 4.0 and even announce the availability of the Software Development Kit (SDK) for registered developers so they could start to adapt their software to support the new rumored tablet computer.
Apple is also expected to release a new iPhone, the iPhone 4, this year. The device is rumored to have a 5MP camera, will include the new iPhone 4.0 operating system, among many other unconfirmed features. Apple is not expected to unveil anything related to the newest iPhone from a product perspective, but could use the event to unveil the 4.0 operating system.
