The iPhone OS 3.0 will be available this summer as a free upgrade to iPhone 3G and the 1st Generation iPhone owners. iPod touch users will have to pay $9.95 for the upgrade.

The Dev-Team has announced they have already jailbreaked the new iPhone 3.0 OS.

Brian Greenstone is one of few iPhone developers who have been extremely successful. Greenstone developed Engimo, a 3D puzzle game where you manipulate slides, bumpers, and other pieces to control streams of flowing liquid. Liquids fall from “droppers”, your objective is to move and rotate the various puzzle pieces to divert the flow of the falling droplets so that they can reach their target.

Yahoo is set to unveil its new homepage design to the world in the coming weeks. New Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz delayed the launch to continue testing the new homepage. Most notably, the new Yahoo homepage will allow users to completely personalize their homepage by adding custom applications as seen on the right sidebar. Developers will also be able to build their own applications for any of the 80 million strong daily Yahoo visitors to use. Read the full story

Sirius XM Radio has just announced plans to release an iPhone application sometime during the second-quarter. Sirius XM Radio satellite sales have been hit hard mainly because of poor auto sales where the service was an added option on new model cars. XM Radio was also hit hard with the bankruptcy of Circuit City who sold the products.

Sirius XM Radio more recently sold a 40% stake to John Malone’s Liberty Media while a $172 debt was due. The iPhone application be available to all the 19 million current iPhone users, 7 million of which are based in the U.S.

Sirius also said it expects to post EBITDA of more than $300 million by the end of 2009, which would be the first profit recorded by the company.

No price information was released.

Google acquired Grand Central in 2007 for more than $50 million in just over a year after the company launched. Grand Central essentially centralizes all of your phone numbers into one prime number; therefore even as you change numbers work or mobile numbers, everyone will still have your primary number.

Google has now finally re-launched the service as Google Voice. New user registrations are still closed but will be opened in the coming weeks. Google says existing Grand Central users will be getting an email with instructions on how to take advantage of the new features that will soon be opened to everyone.

In an effort by Google to deliver more targeted advertising, Google is testing a new program that tracks your behavior on the Internet by tracking what type of sites you visit. For example, if you continuously visit financial sites, chances are, you like finance. Google will then show financial ads to you on various websites you visit that run Google AdSense. You can also actually tell Google your interests in the Ad Preferences Manager.

I think this type of targeting system is fairly overdue. Now that Google better understands your interests and displays advertising that is more appealing to you, there is now a higher chance you will actually click the ad.

Jay Freeman has just launched his new Cydia Store for the iPhone, effectively letting users buy jailbroken iPhone apps from the service. The Cydia Store is completely separate from the Apple App Store and requires a jailbroken iPhone. It is possible the service could spike in usage, even posing a marginal threat to the real app store assuming wide adoption and users can get some of the same cracked apps. Read the full story

NASA has just announced that a camera on the International Space Station will be used as a webcam to broadcast live images of the earth on the Internet whenever the astronauts or NASA are not using the powerful camera. When there is no current feed (such as right now), a simple picture as the one seen below is displayed. NASA says the camera will be aimed towards the earth for the world to see online. So, make sure you check it out and bookmark it to see what its really like when its up. Pretty kool, to say the least.

President Obama has just changed legislation that significantly restricts federal funding of human embryonic stem cells research. Obama also pledged to support scientists and professionals who lead the way in research.

President Obama today said at the White House following a strong applause, “As a person of faith, I believe we are called to care for each other and work to ease human suffering. I believe we have been given the capacity and will to pursue this research…and the humanity and conscience to do so responsibly.”

Obama remains strongly committed against human cloning but believes new developments in the field have significant potential to lead to medical cures and breakthroughs.

Obama failed to release provide regulation details, though has given the National Institutes of Health 120 days to draft guidelines.

Today’s promising announcement raised related company stocks. Geron Corp for example was up about 35% following the news.

San Francisco-based Caustic Graphics has developed a new patent pending technology that can actually bring ray-tracing that generates highly realistic accurate three-dimensional images to computer gaming. Ray-tracing is currently really only used in high budget Hollywood productions and is a rather tedious process where a short scene can take months to generate with ray-tracing. Read the full story
