BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) in partnership with TiVo has released the first TiVo mobile app for BlackBerry devices.
The app brings new mobile functionality exclusively on the BlackBerry platform such as the ability to seamlessly browse show times/programming info, remote recording scheduling/options, all on the go.
From your BlackBerry, you can search for shows by title, keyword, actor, and genre. You can also add shows to your TiVo calendar and add reminders directly from the BB that will sync with your home TiVo.
The app currently only works in Canada and the United States and can be downloaded and used free of charge from the BlackBerry App World. You must also be running device software 4.2 or higher, and of course, you must have a TiVo account with a DVR with internet connectivity.
This app really only accomplishes basic yet useful tasks – it won’t let you stream content to your BlackBerry like other services like Sling. Nevertheless, the free app is a welcomed addition and will certainly prove very useful for many.
